The Weaver's Devotion.
The Bride's Eternal Heirloom.
Kalyana Vastra was founded with a singular devotion: to preserve India's venerated handloom heritage, honoring the sacred rhythm of pit looms and the hands of master artisans who breathe life into pure silk and gold zari.
No powerloom shortcuts. Every warp and weft is guided by human hands, patience, and ancestral intuition.
In a World of Fast Fashion, We Choose the Sacred Rhythm of Time
In 1988, our founding family walked through the historic weaving gallis of Varanasi and the temple towns of Kanchipuram. We witnessed an ancient cultural treasure at risk: mass machine-loom polyesters were copying generational motifs, diluting the sacred heritage of authentic Indian draping.
Kalyana Vastra was founded as an uncompromising sanctuary for authentic handlooms. We vowed never to sell powerloom imitations, synthetic silk, or machine-printed copies. When you wear a Kalyana Vastra drape, you don an authentic piece of Indian civilization that took a weaver up to three months of rhythmic dedication.
Zero Synthetic Compromise: Tested 100% natural mulberry, tussar, and chanderi silk fibers.
Endangered Weaves Preserved: Active revival of antique Kadwa, Korvai, Jamdani, and Patola techniques.
Direct Artisan Support: Assuring generational continuation by paying premium fair-trade compensations.
The Four Pillars of the Maison
Every saree that leaves our atelier carries these unshakeable commitments to authenticity.
100% Pure Silk Mark Certified
Every single drape is tested and verified with the official Silk Mark QR-coded hallmark from the Central Silk Board, Govt. of India. We uphold zero tolerance for synthetic art-silk or powerloom imitations.
Direct Guild Artisan Empowerment
We bypass all trade intermediaries and aggregators. 100% of our production supports over 1,200 traditional pit-loom weaving families with dignified fair wages, healthcare support, and loom restoration funds.
Pure Silver & 24K Gold Electroplated Zari
Our bridal and heirloom pieces feature certified silver alloy metallic warps electroplated in genuine 24-karat gold. They retain their lustrous antique sheen across generations without tarnishing.
Archival Bridal Keepsake Packaging
Each saree undergoes a 28-point inspection before being cocooned in breathable, acid-free pure muslin wrap and encased in a moisture-barrier velvet-lined keepsake chest with natural cedar sachets.
Our Guilds Across Sacred Weaving Centers
We work hand-in-hand with master guild weavers situated in India's most venerated handloom clusters.
Katan Silk & Kadwa Brocades
Dating back to the Mughal courts, our Varanasi weavers employ the intricate Kadwa technique where each gold zari motif is individually locked and hand-woven without loose threads at the back.
Korvai Weaving & Pure Mulberry Silk
Woven on traditional three-shuttle pit looms, our Kanjivaram drapes feature the legendary Korvai interlocking technique joining contrast borders with heavy 2-ply and 3-ply pure silk warps.
Gossamer Silk Cotton & Ashrafi Butas
Celebrated since the 2nd century for sheer weightlessness and royal gold sheen. Handspun silk warps interwoven with fine cotton wefts produce drapes fit for celebrations under temple lanterns.
Royal Paithani Tapestry Silk
The pride of the Maratha royalty, our Paithani sarees feature handwoven oblique square borders and magnificent Morbangadi (peacock in bangle) kaleidoscopic pallus taking up to six months of artistry.
